The Big Roll Music E-Zine Review

Gradually evolving neo-classical melodies with an awesome fast pace techno beat. Digital Explosion reminds me of some of the original positive vibes from United Dance Records. Captivating melodic passages in hand and a scorching beat under my feat I couldnt help from putting my old vapor lock on and dance around my studio. Raven whom sings on "Like an Angel", has the most wonderful voice that reminds me of Madonna. On another vocal cut from the MP3.COM site is Jaana who sings "Love Me Like I Want To" with a warm welcoming irresistible voice where I just felt like I was being wrapped in a blanket. If your looking for intense energetic hypnotic techno beat that has some very cool classical themed playful melodies check at Digital Explosion.

Song "Stars Above"

My favorite song would have to be, without a doubt, no contest, Stars Above. In the world of techno, this song just defines perfection. I don't know if you guys noticed it while you were creating the track, but it seems to me like every little detail to this song is simply perfect.
Let me explain... I'll start with the intro. You guys probably know as well as I do that in a techno song, a good intro means A LOT. Now sometimes people get away with just having a simple bass beat and building on it for the intro, but a good techno really pulls the listener into the music while also pulling their finger away from the "next track" button. I think that the intro in Stars Above is perfect. It's a perfect techno intro. It starts out with a low kind of slow moving strings rhythm riff that only plays twice alone (just as long as it needs to) and then the lead techno piano type riff (I'm terrible at naming techno instruments, heh) comes in to accompany it. After two measures of the lead, it makes a great transition by a snare roll and boom it has a drum beat. Rhythm continues then the lead fades out for about a measure, but then the song does something I'd never expect, but it does it so perfectly. After having about one measure of pure rhythm, the piano chords come in as sort of a crescendo to start the lead. Whenever I hear this part, I can pretty much just picture a conductor waving his hands in a crescendo motion, telling the band to increase in volume. Then the song adds another lead, but this time it's a melodic piano that compliments the rhythm section so well. This is probably my favorite part of the song (even though it's so hard to choose).
So after the melodic piano plays it's little solo, the rhythm chimes back in with a little techno flanger effect. This flanger effect adds so much to the rhythm you wouldn't believe it. It almost sounds different, but it sounds so much better than before. This is probably my second favorite part of the song. I don't know what it is, but that flanger effect just makes the riff complete.
Lastly, the ending is also good as well. I know how hard it is to end a techno song (especially if you aren't going with the "fade out" method), but the little melodic piano solo ends it perfectly.
So there you have it, my review of Stars Above and why it is clearly my favorite song you guys have done.

Song "Abducted"

From Pori - Finland comes this soundsculpter and ambient artist and i can easily say his recording is one of the scariest recordings of dark techno/ambient music I've ever heard. His music should definitely be played on your outdoor speakers on Halloween for all the neighborhood kiddies to hear ;) Attempting to accurately describe this music would be impossible (yes, even for me). It's filled with everything from minor key swirling synthesizers, deep drones, odd synthesizer effects, post-industrial noise, dissonance, and about a million other creepy sounds... the nice thing is that... ALIEN ABDUCTY is more than this: some pieces are great melodic EM energy that reminded me (at times) of a cross between Richard Burmer and Kraftwerk, Patrick O'Hearn and Prodigy... all mixed up in a cool techno environment. While some cuts do harken back to dark alien atmospheres, most of what's here is much more structured and hook-oriented than you can think just listening to few pieces. RECOMMENDED!

Song "Techno Viking"

I enjoyed the song a lot, especially because I have always done songs like this in my head for years, but I haven't been able to accomplish it yet. I really enjoyed the blues-rock riff at the beginning. It's really catchy, and after listening to the song a couple of times, it's really stuck in my head. I also like how you modulated right before you changed styles from blues-rock to a distorted hard rock . Then I thought it was interesting how you had two different blues-rock riffs playing at the same time, and the first riff section wasn't repeated, yet the hard rock distortion guitar section was exactly the same. Over all, the song was interesting, and keeps my attention throughout the whole song.

It's a song I'd recomend to all of my friends, because some like techno, some like blues, and some like hard rock, but they never give the others a chance, so I think of this song as a bridge between all three, and who knows what the reactions will be.
